For the first time, the European Sustainable Palm Oil Dialogue (SPOD) will be hosting an Innovation Fair to highlight the innovations that are helping make sustainable palm oil the norm.
Together with Wageningen University Research (WUR) and Sustainable Palm Oil Choice (SPOC), the Innovation Fair will be held at the fourth SPOD taking place on 20 October 2022 in Hoofddorp, Netherlands. Participants will also have the opportunity to attend an Innovation breakout session.
As innovation is one of three key themes of the SPOD 2022, SPOD organisers are calling for submissions that can deliver the change needed to accelerate the production of sustainable palm oil.
The Innovation Fair competition offers individuals and businesses the opportunity to present their ideas to an expert audience as well as network with academia and industry decision-makers for the chance to bring their idea to reality. Ten selected entries will be showcased at the exhibition and three of the best innovators will pitch their idea at the Innovation conference session.
Collective transformation
Scientific research at WUR focuses on three core areas: Food, Feed and Biobased Production; Natural Resources and Living Environment; and Society and Well-being. The university collaborates with research institutes in various fields of natural and social sciences to realise scientific breakthroughs that can be put into practice.
SPOC unites companies and organisations in Europe who are working together to transform the palm oil industry to be 100% sustainable and have inclusive supply chains, affirming that palm oil can play a positive role in society when produced sustainably.
Selection criteria and application
For this competition, WUR and SPOC are welcoming innovations contributing to solutions on environmental, social and/or governance (ESG) to make palm oil production, trade and/or use more sustainable. Submissions are welcome across a wide range of sectors, including, but not limited to, palm oil producers, processors and traders, retail and NGOs.
