The RSPO Smallholder Support Fund (RSSF) makes it possible for oil palm smallholders around the world to achieve RSPO certification, without incurring the cost. Through RSPO certification, smallholders can increase their yields and remove the obstacles to reach international markets. Certification also helps smallholders reduce the negative impacts of oil palm cultivation on ecosystems, and to improve livelihoods - creating a space where oil palm, local communities, and the environment can co-exist.
How does RSSF work?
The RSSF is funded from 10% of the revenue generated from the trade of Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO).
The funds are used to support smallholders with the costs incurred for audits in the journey to becoming RSPO certified.
Who can apply for RSSF
A legally registered Independent Smallholder Group that is planning an initial RSPO certification audit or annual surveillance.
What can RSSF be used for
Independent Smallholder Certification Audit Costs (one-off only): 100% of the audit costs for all potential certification processes of independent smallholder groups which can be either an initial or annual surveillance audit. The funding does not include Pre-Audit Assessment(s).

Please download and complete the proposal template here. Once the template is complete, please submit the full proposal to [email protected]. Any incomplete proposals will not be processed.
What to expect after submitting the RSSF application
Applications for funding of a Smallholder Certification Audit cost are open throughout the year.
All applications received will be reviewed by the RSSF Fund Manager before being shared with the RSSF Panel for a final decision. The RSSF Fund Manager will inform the applicant once a decision is finalised.
