Based in Rotterdam, Daphne Hameeteman is the Sustainability Manager for Wilmar Europe, a subsidiary of Wilmar International Limited. She leads the sustainability conversation on tropical oils for all of Wilmar’s operations in Europe, connecting the requirements of customers in food, oleochemicals, and biofuels with the supplies from Asia as well as Latin America. She is also actively involved in various multi-stakeholder discussions with civil societies and industry peers on transformation programmes to build a more sustainable palm oil industry.
In Latin America, she leads the WISSH Programme (Wilmar Smallholders Support in Honduras) to build capacity and enhance smallholders’ knowledge of best agricultural management practices that incorporate principles of environmental stewardship, leading to improved crop yields and income. She is developing a similar programme in Colombia.
Daphne is well-versed in the advocacy of sustainable palm oil. Prior to joining Wilmar in 2014, she managed the implementation of the RSPO palm oil traceability system for UTZ. She continues an active participation in RSPO conversations and is a member of the Trade & Traceability Standing Committee, contributing to its working groups to promote the uptake of CSPO.
Majoring in International Financial Economics, she joined Citibank in Amsterdam after graduation. Her other job experiences also include Microsoft as a business planning manager in the Netherlands, Spain and Norway.
