Croda International Plc has been commended by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), a multi-stakeholder initiative dedicated to promoting sustainable production of palm oil worldwide, for their latest progression with supply chain certification for Sustainable Palm Oil.
Following the November 2012 certification of Croda’s Singapore manufacturing facility to handle Certified Sustainable Palm Oil materials via Mass Balance, Croda’s major UK manufacturing facility at Rawcliffe Bridge has recently attained the same status and will commence supply of sustainable palm oil derivatives from October 2013.
Croda’s progressive approach has drawn commendation from the RSPO Secretary General, Darrel Webber, who said: "RSPO commends Croda's efforts in moving towards sourcing for physical Certified Sustainable Palm Oil. We acknowledge the complexity of the palm oil supply chain, especially when it involves the palm oil and palm kernel oil derivatives market. Thus, Croda's initiatives are indeed an affirmative step towards the right direction, playing a significant role in the collective efforts to transform markets and make sustainable palm oil the norm."
Amongst the rapidly growing portfolio of certified sustainable palm oil derivative products that Croda offers are many of the core ingredients frequently used by Personal Care manufacturers, including products from the heritage Span™ and Tween™ Ranges. Consumer goods manufacturers who purchase these certified products will be able to demonstrate their proactive commitment to sustainable palm oil by stating “contains sustainable palm oil” on their relevant finished goods packaging.
Croda is scheduled for RSPO audits for its two manufacturing facilities in North America later in 2013 and anticipates it will be able to offer certified sustainable palm oil derivative products manufactured in these locations as well.
